5 Tips before Purchasing an Excavator

Excavators are the muscles of a construction site. It can do plenty heavy duty tasks from digging holes to crashing earth materials. When buying excavator buckets for your construction needs it is important to consider so many things. Here we list at least 5. You can add up on your notes in case we are missing something.

1. Be familiar with the excavators

There are many types of excavator buckets out there and if you do not know them well you might end up picking the wrong guy. Commonly there are 6 major buckets listed. Digging buckets shall be the first of them and this one's used for digging up normal soil, rock or other earth material. Second, we have the Rock bucket which is obviously designed for digging up rocks of all sorts and sizes. Then we there V bucket which is V shaped in structure that can penetrate easily to the soil. With V you can save more power when digging. Another kind is Clean-up bucket that has an ice cream scoop like bucket. Next is Hardpan bucket which is built for toughness. Basically Hardpan buckets have ripper teeth to help loosened hard packed soil. Last kind is skeleton bucket which is helpful in segregating soil from other particles

It is also important that you know the basic parts of an excavator. If you have to be an expert be so to make sure you are getting the most of what you pay for. When you purchase you have to check the bucket or sometimes called shovel, the arm which extends the bucket, the boom which is also attached to the bucket, the cab where the driver sits, engine, counter weight,  hydraulic tank, the under carriage and more.

2. Know exactly what you need

Given you have the list of kinds of excavator buckets; you need to ask yourself which of them is useful for your construction. First you must survey the construction site to check the ground that will be worked on and to measure the size of the whole area. Then after that you must determine what would be the size of your excavator buckets. Also make sure you know how many do you need based on your ground survey and the type of work that needs to be done. Lastly, set your budget.

3. Get the details from the dealer

Normally dealers would post details on their websites or on their advertisement which most of the time only talks about the special features of the equipment. However when you get to visit the dealer you can ask them all the information you wanted to know like materials used in building the equipment or any details like relating to its durability and function.

4. Do the testing

There is always a reason why an excavator bucket is considered as a heavy equipment unit. Given the size and how it's designed, one look and you will know. Since it’s going to perform heavy task on the construction site it is always recommended to test it. Testing it right before your and see the results is your determining factor whether you'll purchase it or not.

5. Ready your options

If you are not fully satisfied with what you have seen be ready to go on your next option. You don't have to close the deal right away. Give yourself time to decide and check other dealers before deciding. Remember, there are thousands of excavator bucket manufacturers out there that you can check. Then once your checklist is complete it's time to close the deal.
